So the chatbar on the right is getting spammed. It's been targeted for quite a while, actually, but before I would check Charhut and see 5 or so in there. My custom control panel I wrote in Rails alongside the rest of the site lets me ban IP addresses and delete messages, so I usually just do that for all the spam messages. Yesterday though! I checked and saw like a hundred or so spam messages! I saw new ones come up as I refreshed the page, so the attack was on-going at the time.

So within 15 minutes or so I added to rails an auto-banning feature to the chatbar on the right. If you have a couple keywords in your post, it automatically bans you and doesn't post the message. Also, I wrote a script that would go through the database table and purge/IP ban all the current entries that had those keywords. Although I had to fiddle with the Ruby syntax for another 15 minutes, I implemented all that really quickly. I like Rails!

As for what I've been up to, I'm coming dangerously close to the end of the term, and I want to finish all my projects and milestones by then. I'm working on them at the moment.

Also, why don't cell phones have flashlights built into them?
